This is For You, Emma♡

I am thinking of getting a sugar glider but I have school during the day and then I am on a rowing team until 6:30 pm, but after that I should be home to play with it until I go to sleep at about 11:00. Is this enough time or will it get upset during the day when I am gone?

You need to get two. Gliders do much better in pairs. DO NOT GET ONLY ONE.

And no. The gliders probably won’t notice you’re gone, haha. Gliders are nocturnal, which means they sleep during the day. Your schedule won’t bother them:) You can bond with them while you relax or do homework or whatever when they’re in the pouch. Gliders really only require 30 minutes of active play time a day. They get bored easily, lol.

My gliders are acting odd today. somewhere at 9 am they woke up and staid up until 3pm. After that I put them in their sleepingbag but they still were awake. Then I needed to go home and put them in carrying box and they were sleeping. at home I put them on their cage and they were wide awake. Now 10 pm they are still sleeping. 1 of them are not in the cage and was sleeping on the floor. when I decided to put her whit others she run away Do you know why they were avake so long at day

I’m a bit confused. What sleeping bag are you talking about? Like a human sleeping bag or a pouch? You said you needed to take them home? So I’m assuming you were out somewhere with them. This can cause stress that would upset their routine.

My gliders don’t get up til around midnight or so, thus ten o’clock really isn’t that “late” for them. You should be cautious about letting your gliders roam free in your house, if by the floor you mean the floor of a room. It would be very easy for them to get lost and possibly killed by chemicals, drowning, etc.

It sounds to me like they need a more stable routine. Today, I brought my gliders’ pouch out to check on them and they stayed up a while after I put them back in the cage. That’s not unusual or anything I was concerned about because I disrupted their routine. If you feed them at the same time every night and make sure the area around them has a stable light-dark schedule, they should be fine and settle back into a healthy pattern.

You shouldn’t try to force your gliders to be around each other, but if they’re in a colony, you need to keep them together. Gliders can get anxious when they aren’t around their “family” and this will cause them to run around the cage, looking for the missing members. If your gliders get into a fight, one may sleep in a different place in the cage. This is fine, and it means they just need a break from each other. They can regulate this on their own- just make sure you provide plenty of pouches so you don’t end up with a dead glider from a fight.

However, I’m not quite sure I understood your message so feel free to let me know if I didn’t help!
